WildArt Photographer of the Year Winners - BACKYARD

BACKYARD was the competition category theme for August, the design of Rebecca Nason. We received 949 entries into this contest, which sought to celebrate the wildlife close to our homes, the very subjects we all turned to during Covid-enforced lockdowns. We received a wide range of subjects and some incredible images. Many congratulations to all our winners featured here, but especially Jan Piecha from Germany for his beautiful image of Balkan Anemones which has won our Gold Award in this category. As well as winning £500 Jan books a place in our grand final at the end of the year giving him the chance to become our very first WildArt Photographer of the Year winner. Rebecca’s conservation cause is Hillswick Wildlife Sanctuary, a small wildlife sanctuary on the Shetland Isles - learn more about Hillswick here. The competition raised a total of £185.40 through a percentage of competition entry fees. Thanks to all who entered BACKYARD and helped us to raise this money for conservation. Congratulations also go to Khurram Khan from the United States who wins our Silver Award and £200 with this image of a Skunk entitled ‘Night Patrol’; and also to Peter Hudson, originally from the United Kingdom but now residing in the United States, who is awarded our Bronze prize and £100 for his image entitled ‘Swallow the Bucket’.

COTTON CARRIER AWARD WINNER

Congratulations go to Patricie Robenková from the Czech Republic for this image of a Ground Squirrel entitled ‘Breakfast’. Patricie is our Wild Planet Photo Magazine Editor’s Choice for BACKYARD and receives a year’s free subscription to the magazine.

FOUNDER’S CHOICE

Congratulations to Nick Stroh from the United States for this image of a Yellowthroat entitled ‘Spotlight’ which is Rob Read’s Founder’s Choice for BACKYARD. This image is also Commended by the judges.

WILDART YOUNG BACKYARD CATEGORY WINNER

Our congratulations go to Luca Lorenz from Germany who wins our Young Award for BACKYARD with this image of a Red Fox entitled ‘Fox Dream’. Luca wins £50 and goes forward to our grand final at the end of the year and will be considered for our overall WildArt Young Photographer of the Year.
